The Hornsey Project, a recreation of the student occupation of 1968, in the very building that marked the beginning of the counter culture in the UK, it was an attempt to question current trajectories in art education. With lectures, seminars, workshops and film showings (Esther Leslie, Terry Atkinson and Lynda Morris among others). An ‘exhibition’ of the documentation and posters produced by the students with the recreation of the ‘occupation’ banners and signs.
This was not an anniversary or a ‘reunion’. no dates matched. This was a recognition of the need to re-examine how Art Education was changing, post Thatcher and Blair. This was prescient to the current debates and ‘symposia’ currently ubiquitous in academia and the letters pages of Art journals.
