This work explored the validity and relevance of critical practice in relation to history painting, which involved the construction of a full-size 1:1 scale representation of a B52 bomber, carrying fully loaded air-launched cruise missiles. As the B-52 is now painted in ‘stealth grey’ any 1:1 scale pictorial representation becomes a single colour field abstract painting in the style of Alan Charlton. This is minimalism as History Painting, abstraction as Goya’s ‘Disasters of War’.
